Day 16 - Because of Christ’s Righteousness I’m Perfect in the Father’s Sight
We can all agree that when we look at ourselves, we don’t see any signs of perfection. (Romans 3:22-24) But thank God for the good news: In Christ our Righteousness, we are perfect in God's sight. According to Romans, God's righteousness is the standard by which all will be judged (apart from Christ). We cannot reach that standard by ourselves, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we have been justified and made holy before God. We are washed, we are justified, we are sanctified in the name of Jesus and in the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 6:11). Furthermore, we have been baptized into Christ and have been clothed with Him. (Colossians 2:12) We come to God in Christ, and He presents us to the Father in Himself. (Hebrews 2:10) As He declares to the Father in Hebrews 2, “Behold, I and the children you have given me!” (Hebrews 2:13) Colossians says that He has presented us in the body of His flesh through His death, without spot. (Colossians 1:22)
Verses
- Romans 3:22-24 - Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
- Philippians 3:9 - And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
- Galatians 2:20-21 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
- Hebrews 10:14 - For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Prayer / Confession
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and for making me a new creation in Christ Jesus. I believe that Christ's righteousness has made me perfect in Your sight, and I boldly declare that I am justified and made holy before You. As I live by faith, I reject my own righteousness and repudiate any temptation to try to improve my “position” before you. I thank you that I am accepted in the Beloved. Grant me wisdom and understanding to embrace Christ as my righteousness. Thank You for vindicating me before the law and before any accusation. I believe your word. I have been crucified and raised with Him, and now His righteousness dwells in me. I can rejoice in God and even make God my boast. Thank you for the Gospel that has revealed Your righteousness to me, which is Christ Himself, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
